1. “your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.”
~ Charles Bukowski

2. Lassiter’s is a cool hardware store near Pintlala. It carries a wide variety of items. I was surprised by the diversity.

3. The Bent by Nature podcast, especially the “This is Snap!” series.

4. Bulky as it is, I think I am loving the new Ninja Foodi. The pressure cooker function has worked as expected.

The lid on the sofa is the pressure cooker lid. The other one is the air fryer lid.

QOTD: “What is the truest thing in you right now?
Start there.
Create that.”

1. Day two of the cold symptoms. Blah Day 3. Blah Blah Blah. Days pass. Eight days later there is some improvement.

2. I ordered a Ninja Foodi in the hopes of replacing my slow cooker and my Instant Pot with one appliance. Also it adds an air fryer to my cooking options.

Multipurpose is the way to go when living this way.

3. Sits in a chair
Gray skies
A chill in the air
Staring eyes

Once Upon a Time in Pint Lala 3

1. On this beautiful fall day, my body is telling me to kick back, rest and try to get over this runny nose, itchy throat and stuffed up sinuses. The flow is definitely about rest and I’m going with the flow.

2. Recently I went for a drive to gather supplies. I passed a Koch Foods processing plant. I thought it looked cool with the bright blue sky.

“Heroes work here!”

3. Next door to the RV park the local water company is drilling a deep well to cover future expansions.

Pint Lala 2

Not much happening the last few days. I went to Dollar General to score some supplies. It was new one and the first DG I’ve been in that sold minimal produce. I got some bananas. I like bananas.

I wandered back to Alabama Safari Park. It was fun. Oddly, I forgot my big camera.

A pesky lama blocking the way.
It was a beautiful day

I drove to the state liquor store in Hayneville AL. It’s the county seat of Lowndes County. It was closed.

Civil rights protesters were killed by the white minority.

Once Upon a Time in Pint Lala

I arrived in Pintlala November 1. I got here in the early afternoon and began the process of switching from travel mode to stationary mode.

This involves lowering the stabilizing jacks, picking up things I put on the floor for traveling safely, setting up the plants and ‘not an altar’, and getting out the other miscellaneous stowed items. It’s a several day process. There is no hurry.

Pint Lala day 2. In the a.m. i journeyed to the local grocer in the capital of a backward region of this country. I hope I obtained enough supplies for two weeks or more. Once back at WHQ, I stored most all the supplies.

3. I journeyed to the local safari park and after negotiating the price of admittance, spent some time with the creatures. Alabama Safari Park

4. I’ve been back to the safari park to take a few pictures. Good times.

1. The early nights have changed my sleep schedule. It is not a bad thing, just a different thing. Change is good. It keeps my brain flexible. There is no point in clinging to what was. It’s like a river. What was is gone. What will be has not arrived. Here I am. Present. Digging it.

2. Snack time.

Miscellaneous herbivores at Alabama Safari Park.

3. I bought myself a kitchen appliance upgrade. I’m replacing my Instant Pot and slow cooker with one appliance, the Ninja Foodi Compact Tendercrisp Pressure Cooker. It bakes, steams and air fries too. I’ll try it out today. I think rice is a good test.

1. This time of year is difficult. Both my parents died around this time 12 years ago. Their deaths cast a pale over the holiday season that I have yet to shake off.

2. I am happy to announce my update to Xyborg Nomad 3.0. I got the Moderna booster recently.

This has been a priority for me. I wanted to receive the booster before I moved to a more rural setting where there is less access to vaccine sources and other purveyors of potions in general.

3. One nice thing about this time of year is that it’s eggnog in season. I love eggnog.

QOTD: “To be a hero means being the author of your own myth. “
~ Alberto Villoldo

In the moment we each chose our path. Yes, somethings are beyond our control. Even then we can choose our response. Each now contains a myriad of possibilities. We can make our routine, comfortable and often unexamined choice or we can select our equivalent to “the one less traveled”.

“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. ~ Robert Frost

1. Sleep Over is a fun podcast by Carolyn Elliot and Laila Bernhardt.

2. A White Russian made with eggnog. Yummy.

1. Om Mani Padme Hum

2. A magick spell. 😉 I don’t know but I’ve been told that uttering Greta Thunberg’s name three times over a vegan burger under a full moon at midnight causes an angry old white guy’s willy to fall off. Works best in Texas.

3. Things that make me feel inept.
I hate when I create my own disaster. I was defrosting the freezer and managed to get a hand towel wrapped up in the ice maker mechanism. I got out what I could. Only time will tell if I killed the ice maker.

Ice maker update: I appear to have saved the ice maker. It is busily make ice again. 🏆

Embarrassing Things I’ve Done

Sniffing clothes in the laundry hamper checking if I can wear them again. And then wearing them again.

Talking to myself and answering myself in public.

Picking my nose.

Performing a mini concert in the jeep while driving. I can’t sing.

Pretending not to hear or see someone I know when I see/hear them in public I totally ignored my dad one time. I know he saw me. He was yelling my name.

Not making it to the bathroom in time.

Peeing in the shower/pool.

Running the water while using the bathroom so no one can hear me doing my business. My mom taught me to do that when I was a child.

Mooing loudly at cows as I drive past them.

I have waved back at people who were waving but not at me. I do that pretty often.

Changed clothes in a parking deck. The security camera was pointed right at me. Oops

Falling in public embarrasses me. Now that I’m older it’s more embarrassing because people sometimes rush up to see if I’m ok.

What embarrassing things have you done?

I appreciate each of you. Your visits, likes, and comments help me feel meaningful. Stay safe and well out there in the CCE.
