Here are a few pictures from our visit to the Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium.
We are at the intersection of La rue des Insects and Lovers’ Lane.
I love the rare blue crawfish. They are so pretty.
Jesse loved the water and the fish. The Koi were hoping he had some food. I was hoping he didn’t fall in the pool. He didn’t.
His favorite at the Insectarium is the Love Bugs. The windshield has a projection of a road and landscape. He loved driving through it. He remembered it from our last trip. This time he played and played there. When other children came along he got out and let them have a turn. No prompting. We weren’t in a hurry and eventually he had enough and we wandered/wondered to the next thing.
Oddly, a New Orleans butterfly garden is not complete without some alligators.
Talk about excellent marketing. You can’t exit these places without passing through the gift shop. rofl
Back Story
Christy, Jesse, and I took the Amtrak Crescent from the train depot in Anniston AL to New Orleans for a week of adventure and photography. This train station is a classical revival depot and is listed in the National Registry of Historical Places. Jesse loves to ride the train. Heck, we all love to ride the train. We left August 8, 2013 and returned August 14th. Unfortunately Jeremy couldn’t go this time. He had to work.
Christy’s father was kind enough to drive us to the train station and pick us up so we wouldn’t have to leave a vehicle parked there for a week.
We stayed at our usual place, the historic 905 Royal Hotel in the French Quarter. The 905 Royal was built in the late 1890’s.
See what else I’m doing.

the Insectarium would be just the kind of place I’d visit. cool. and the blue crayfish is pretty wild.
Jesse sure is growing up!
Aug 24, 2013 @ 10:54:57
He is getting big. He carry on meaningful (meaningful for 3) conversations now. It’s fun to talk with him.
You’d love the Insectarium. There are hundreds of photo ops and it’s really interesting. If you like you can eat tasty bugs in the bug cooking demonstration. They really are good. Litmus test: Jesse thinks they are good. rofl
Have a great Sunday!

Jesse is cute driving that car. He really seems immersed in that.
Aug 24, 2013 @ 10:56:17
He was totally sucked into driving the car. He must have stayed there on and off for an hour.
Aug 24, 2013 @ 11:49:19
Thank goodness Jesse didn”t fall in and what little boy wouldn”t want to drive that love bug. Great photos.
Aug 25, 2013 @ 05:13:21
Thank you. You know how little boys and water can be. He has fallen in other places. rofl

Yes, it’s the kids in our lives that keep us young and keep our attitudes good! We can rediscover the world through their eyes and their excitement and joy IS contagious! 🙂 HUGS for a Sunday!!! 🙂

We need to become kids again then. This grownup business is for the birds.

Loved the pictures! Jesse is a cutie! He sounds like a very polite kid, letting others have a turn in the car. Such a sweetheart! I love Koi fish, they are my favorite! Alligators scared me when I was a teen but I’ve been near them at different zoos and love to watch them on TV. When I was young, I couldn’t even look at pictures of them lol. Weird how that changed lol. It sounds like you all had fun! 🙂

Alligators are something. Jesse is very interested in them and afraid. On the swamp tour some swam up to the boat and the first thing he said was ‘IT’S BIG”.
It is funny how we change over the years.
He is like other children. Sometimes he’s polite and other times he isn’t. This day he was sharing. lol
I love Koi too. I like to toss them a little fish food when there is some available.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. 🙂

Alligators are interesting indeed but also scary when they open wide lol. I am always amazed at those who wrestle alligators and get injured, but yet live to tell their stories. Jesse sounds very interested in them! So he felt like sharing eh? LOL, cute kid! We have a pond across the street but there are no Koi in there. Maybe I’ll get my brother to buy some. The pond is in his property. I love their different colors. You’re welcome! Have a blessed evening! 🙂

They are scary when they open wide. I tried to get a picture of that. They snap those jaws shut amazingly fast so the it’s almost closed in the picture. Maybe I’ll get another chance. I hope so.
I hope your brother goes for the Koi in the pond thing. That would be great!
Aug 27, 2013 @ 21:41:52
Yeah, it would be kool if you could get a picture like that! Yup, I’ve always wanted Koi fish. Hope you’re having a good night! 🙂

It was a good night. I hope yours was too. And now it’s Wednesday. lol Have a great one!
