Here are the first pictures from our trip to the Audubon Aquarium.
Jellyfish are one of my favorite subjects to photograph in aquariums.
I was disappointed with the jellyfish pictures I got on this trip. I just wasn’t able to get many I liked.
Jesse had a great time playing with and around this pressure suit.
We all had a great time playing at the aquarium.
Back Story
Christy, Jesse, and I took the Amtrak Crescent from the train depot in Anniston AL to New Orleans for a week of adventure and photography. This train station is a classical revival depot and is listed in the National Registry of Historical Places. Jesse loves to ride the train. Heck, we all love to ride the train. We left August 8, 2013 and returned August 14th. Unfortunately Jeremy couldn’t go this time. He had to work.
Christy’s father was kind enough to drive us to the train station and pick us up so we wouldn’t have to leave a vehicle parked there for a week.
We stayed at our usual place, the historic 905 Royal Hotel in the French Quarter. The 905 Royal was built in the late 1890’s.
See what else I’m doing.

You might not have been happy with your jellyfish images, but I love the two you posts. The movement in the first, and the shadows in the second, are intriguing!

Thank you. I’m glad you like them. The shadows and movement are what attracted me to taking these pictures. I’m always looking for how light is playing.

Jellies are gorgeous creatures.

I agree they are. They come in so many varieties and colors, not unlike people. lol Have an awesome week.

I have a friend taking a Drawing I class right now at my university. They are drawing animals, and she chose to draw jellyfish as the centerpiece of her project. She is now calling it “one of the worst decisions” she has ever made.
Oct 16, 2013 @ 05:03:07
I can see how she would think that. I can’t imagine trying to draw something as ethereal as jellyfish.

Wow your jelly fish photos are so cool! I love the colors/light and movement! 🙂
And your precious friends are beautiful! 🙂

I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures.
Aquariums are a lot of fun. If I go to Gatlinburg this year I hope I can spend an afternoon on my own taking pictures in the aquarium there.
I am blessed my friends are easy on the eyes. j/k They are pretty people.

My two fav aquariums…one is in San Diego…the other was the one in Gatlinburg! My kids took me there! I loved the big room where the sharks and fish are swimming around you and over you! 🙂
Oct 19, 2013 @ 07:48:25
@doesitevenmatter3 I love that room too. They have a huge tank of tropical fish that I really like too. Seems it is just before going on the moving sidewalk under the big shark/fish room.
I’ve been to the zoo in San Diego several times but never the aquarium. I should put that on my bucket list.

Oopy…the aquarium I meant in CA is in San Fransisco! I got it mixed up with Sea World in San Diego. So you HAVE to go visit the aquarium in SF.
Here is a list of a couple others:
