Day 5 of Positivity Week: Your Impact
What positive impact (or impacts) do you hope to leave behind when you go? Do you hope what positive impacts you leave behind will change the world for the better?
I’ve thought about this a lot today. I’ve thought about it several times in my life, most recently a few months ago. I always come up empty. I don’t think the current life I’m living will have any lasting impact on the world. Those who are close to me will remember me when I am gone. When they are gone it will be forgotten that jr cline ever existed. That is how it’s been for thousands of years. Millions, billions have been forgotten. I see no reason why my brief walk across life’s stage should be remembered.
Don’t get me wrong. This isn’t depressing. Doesn’t bother me one bit. I hope it doesn’t bother you.
If the above is wrong, I hope that any impact my existence has is positive. Of course whether it is positive or not is really in the eye of the beholder.
Churchill had it right when he said, “History is written by the victors.”
See what else I’m doing.

I think you will always be a smile in the eyes and hearts of your children, grand children and maybe even great grand children and that is the most important. Leaving a smile in someones heart will always remain and leave a part of us behind.

That is sweet Ruth. You’re right about me and my children. We are joined at the heart.
My real grand child has only seen me a couple of times in her 1.5 years of life. She doesn’t know me. Maybe she and I will get to know each other one day.
Jesse and I are fast friends. He will remember my smile.

Well…
As a friend, you have had a positive influence/impact in my life! Your kind words, your wise words, your understanding, your sense of fun and play, your sense of humor, and SO much more has brought me so much joy! I will always remember you fondly and with a big grin! 😀 (Especially when I think about you dancing in Walmart with the elf hat on!!!)
As a teacher…you have no idea of the positive impact you’ve had on your students…most kids never say a word of thanks to their college profs…but many of them have appreciated you! 🙂
And, most importantly, as a father and grandfather you have had a positive impact on your family! 🙂
Plus you got at least 30+ years left to continue impacting the world! 🙂
Your brief walk across life’s stage WILL be remembered, JR! 🙂
HUGS!!!
🙂

You’re so right about the students. I know being in college has really changed some of their lives. A few have come back to tell me over the years. Usually it is to brag that they make more than I do. rofl Of course they mean it in a loving way. hahaha All of them have enhanced my life in one way or another.
Thank you. I’m happily surprised that my antics have brought some joy in your life. hugs
I don’t know about the 30+ years. lol I’m thinking more like 15 or 20.
