This morning has been really lovely.  Every once in a while I get a burst of creativity in the cleaning department. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by dishes and laundry and clutter with a toddler around…

Fortunately, Girl Child also reminds me that it’s fun to clean.  Sometimes she gets obsessed with the broom and takes it all over the house, saying “sweep sweep sweep… “clean it up”.  So this morning, we’ve been seriously cleaning the kitchen… wiping countertops and sweeping and gathering toys out of the floor and mopping.  

For as long as I can remember, one of my father’s sayings has been “Life is messy; clean it up”  and I’ve found it incredibly handing with my girl.  The lesson I had always gathered in the past was a kind of Zen, cleaning meditation… something about finding peace in whatever mundane moment one experiences.  It has made me…
