When I had a new roof installed earlier this year, the nail pictured above was left protruding from the decking. Shingles were laid over it. As the roof heated up this summer, the nail slowly worked it’s way through the shingles as they settled to the decking.
Boom! Hole through the shingles. Boom! Roof leak! Crap! Bits of textured ceiling floated to the floor. The ominous brown stain marred the white ceiling.
I called the roofing company and they eventually dispatched two nice gentlemen who climbed onto the roof, discovered, and fixed the problem. We hope! Keep your fingers crossed.
I’ve bought several new roofs in my life. This one has been the most problematic and the most expensive.
