When I had a new roof installed earlier this year, the nail pictured above was left protruding from the decking. Shingles were laid over it. As the roof heated up this summer, the nail slowly worked it’s way through the shingles as they settled to the decking.
Boom! Hole through the shingles. Boom! Roof leak! Crap! Bits of textured ceiling floated to the floor. The ominous brown stain marred the white ceiling.
I called the roofing company and they eventually dispatched two nice gentlemen who climbed onto the roof, discovered, and fixed the problem. We hope! Keep your fingers crossed.
I’ve bought several new roofs in my life. This one has been the most problematic and the most expensive.

Those guys were good. They found it within 10 minutes and had it repaired and were gone in another 30.

Oh yes, replacing shingles on the roof is very expensive. Who would have thought a nail could create such a mess.

Of course not. I’ll have to go around again with the owner before (if) that gets done. I’ll probably fix it myself today since a realtor is showing the house tomorrow.

it IS interesting, father of one of my fav artists. it’s obvious that you have been taking photos a good while. thou art very good at it. whereas the writing, not so long, right? like myself. i have been doing the poetry thing for a while, but the image thing, not nearly so long. which is obvious. 😀
