Many of you are aware I’m selling my house and moving into a motor home. My real estate agent is associated with Re/Max. According to my realtor, a home inspector who had rescheduled twice, was finally coming to inspect my house Saturday October 11 from 1 – 4 pm. She told me I shouldn’t be at the house while he was there. I made plans for the day.
Belle and I meet at The Old Baker Farm for Western Cowboy Days. It was a hot and beautiful Alabama day. We walked about, looked at farm animals, went on a hayride to and from the pumpkin patch, and each picked a pumpkin to take home. Afterwards we went to Morgan Creek Winery for wine tasting and purchasing. This is what I brought home: Blush, Red Mountain Red, Regal Red, and an Apple wine which isn’t listed on their website. Fun times.
We split up and I was headed home when I realized the home inspector might still be there. It was 3:55 so I decided to stop and pick up a few groceries. I got a few frozen items, some creamer, and some items for supper. When I arrived at 4:30 I was astonished to see a truck parked almost sideways in the drive. I need to stop believing what she says. I figured the inspector wasn’t done and I would have to come back later. I drove back to town, threw away the melting frozen items (this is when I got really angry), and went out for supper. At 5:30 I drove back to the house. He/she was still there. At this point I went to Fermenter’s at the Rex and had a couple of beers. Some friends showed up and we talked for several hours.
I had attempted to contact my realtor at 4:30 and then again at 5:30. I sent emails to her and copied them to Re/Max customer service. I like documentation.
Finally about 8:30 she responded and blamed the problem on my house, the buyers, and the inspector. She just couldn’t understand why I was angry with her again. Nothing had ever been her fault.
I got home around 9 and cleaned up a few little messes the inspector left for me. I’m sure I’ll find more as I do things around the house today.
I was unhappy with myself for getting angry. My feelings arise in me and aren’t caused by others. It is a shadow I’m working on during this ‘sell the house adventure’.
So, here is my new self for this new day.
I forgive my agent. I got up this morning and prayed for her as well as some others on my prayer list. I also plan to contact a real estate attorney on Monday. I think I may need someone in my corner.
This is a good day and I’m going to have fun. I hope you do too.
Peace, Love, and Light

Your real estate agent is supposed to be representing you — that’s what her commission is for! It’s good you’re contacting an attorney … but I hope you don’t need it, and that things get settled quickly.

If doesn’t fall through everything should be signed, sealed, and delivered on Halloween.

seems to be the real estate agent is supposed to give you a good estimate on when the inspector will be in your house (which is YOURS until it’s not anymore). so your getting angry that the inspector was much longer than promised is her responsibility. at least freaking tell you if the timing is different than agreed to. how the heck would she feel if she had to be out of her house for an indeterminant period of time. i can’t figure out how to fix that word.
i’m glad you’re feeling better today. and i’m glad you’re getting a lawyer.

Right! All she had to do was keep track of what was going on and give me a heads up. Everything would have been different. Yes, I’m much better. I’m not good with anger.

I agree with you about no tweeting angry with her especially when you are in the process of trying to get your house sold.
I think after it sells I would send her some dog poop in a brown paper bag to make a comment on her service and behavior.
😯
I am so bad.

lol
Apparently there is an official place to submit complaints, arec.org. I may be visiting that site when all is said and done.

I wouldn’t be too crazy about having the inspector in my house while I was gone! Especially one who seems to be irresponsible about getting to his appointments.
I hope your agent figures out what her job is pretty soon and everything goes well!

I hope the inspector didn’t find problems! I’m staying with a friend whose dishwasher was supposed to be delivered on Thursday between 1-5 pm — except the sales guy forgot to write the ticket, so it didn’t come. And, to make matters worse, the phone company repairmen was supposed to come between 1-5 — by 4:45 we called, and were told they work till 7, so he’d be here sometime — SO frustrating!

I’d be angry too, if I was given a time frame and the person responsible wasn’t upholding to the agreement. She should’ve kept in contact with you throughout the day to let you know things had changed. I have a deep-seated hatred for tardiness and lollygagging.

I can’t blame you for being mad. She told you the times the inspector was supposed to be there and he was there longer than she told you that he would be. Then you couldn’t get a hold of her for quite a while. Sounds like she isn’t doing a very good job.

When we first wanted to buy a house, we had a Re-Max agent. And after a couple of month, we told her we are not satisfied with her service and went with another agent. But after we bought the house, she sued us and took us to courts. We went, and she was there with her manager. And she wanted $1000 for the part she put into. But we ended up going to trial. After listening to everything, we didn’t even have a lawyer, the Judge came back and said, that we don’t owe anything to her. Because she has signed only her contract form, and not ours. Judge said that this could be fraudulent, and dismissed the case.
