I’m trying curbside pickup at the local grocery store. I called yesterday to get the scoop on how small town USA curbside pickup works. I’m calling in my order, they will do the best they can, and they will call me back with the total.

The items with an “X” are the items that were available. The employees did a great job. It was as safe as possibly. The grand total for this adventure was $88 and change and should feed me for 2 or 3 weeks. When I got home I wiped down some things with a Lysol wipe, others got a soapy bath, and a few others were put in isolation for a week.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I really appreciate the likes and comments. Much love. Stay well. ❤️

aw. No Guinness. Glad you’re being safe.
A local farm has a grocery doing curbside. I like doing that. I have to drive out of my way more than the regular grocery store, but I want to keep the farm in business. Besides. Fresh apples. And freaking amazing chicken salad.

That seems pretty good for what appears to be a smallish store. I’ve been disappointed in the produce Instacart has chosen for me, but some of the produce available here, in the middle of the country just isn’t very good. I got spoiled by living in Texas all those years, close to where so much produce is, well, produced! I hope to grow enough in my garden this year to have some to preserve.

Thankfully I live in Alabama where a lot of produce is grown. I guess that is similar to your Texas experience.
This store is small. It carries a wide variety of mainstream groceries. No hummus. No Napa cabbage. A limited selection of brands. Like they have a store brand pickle and one name brand.
Their claim to fame is a huge meat department and low meat prices.

Curbside here is no more efficient than delivery. The quality and availability has been dependent upon which store one chooses. And it appears the stores have hired many more ‘shoppers,’ as there are closer dates available — no more midnight selecting dates, and no more 2-week waits! Looks like you hit the jackpot in terms of availability — it feels good to have a full ‘pantry!’

I did well. This is a mom and pop grocery store in a small town. The same woman selects my every time. She has learned about me and makes wise substitutions when one is available.

It helps to have the same ‘shopper.’ That’s great that yours knows about you and your likes/dislikes! My neighbor has been doing the on-line portion for me, and brings me what I ordered when it arrives at her home — I think soon I’ll try on my own, now that delivery times are more open!
