1. The last time I waited with a dying person it was almost 11 years ago. I am totally surprised to be doing it again. It’s not a relative and not someone close to me. I’m just giving a friend a break.
2.

3. I attended a friend’s funeral. The funeral of the person I sat with. It was sad.

I always have need of a box.
I have stuff.
Thank you for sitting with the person and attending their funeral. You are kind. Your presence helped.
The last time I sang with my church choir at a funeral, I knew I would not be doing it again. I could see the faces of the family the entire service. It’s hard to see that pain.

The pain is hard. I try to funnel it away as much as I can.
I don’t have much stuff. It was liberating to get rid of stuff.

Waiting for another’s death has to be the most painful activity for the person waiting — you were doing a great service for your friend, and I’m sure they appreciated your giving them a break!

They did.
Time is something I can give.

Tibetan Book of the Dead is a ‘comfort’ to me, but it’s your presence there, that mattered.
