When I went places with my grandfather, he always stopped on the way back and got us both a strawberry malt. He seemed to know where all the best malt places were. I have a difficult time finding a malt shop these days.
His wife always fed me bananas. Anytime I eat a banana she comes to mind. She would make banana sandwiches. They were banana and Mayo or banana and creamy peanut butter. I recently made one for myself. It was good.

While grocery shopping I saw a bag of mini GooGoo Clusters. My grandfather on my dad’s side liked GooGoo Clusters. He liked Red Skeleton and Laurence Welk. He drove Studebaker cars until he could not buy them any longer. He was a very hard working man with big gnarly, arthritic hands. He always smelled like Ben Gay.
QOTD: “I see that the life of this place is always emerging beyond expectation or prediction or typicality, that it is unique, given to the world minute by minute, only once, never to be repeated. And this is when I see that this life is a miracle, absolutely worth having, absolutely worth saving.
We are alive within mystery, by miracle.”
~ Wendell Berry, “Life is a Miracle: An Essay Against Modern Superstition”

Your grandfather and I have the same taste…. I love the musical show, Laurence Welk. I hope this is what you are talking about.
