The 2018 Mashup

2 Comments

2018 Things

Keep calm.

I’m not a resolution maker. I’m not a resolution keeper. I pick themes or words or intentions (Stayed tunes. Soon a 2018 intentions blog is coming to a screen near you.) or a mixture. This year is a mashup, a fusion of ideas.

Stay crazy.

My 2018 mantra: “Lord Jesus have mercy on me.” It’s my mala (spiritual fidget spinner) version of the Jesus Prayer.

My always motto: “Be here now”.

My anthem for 2018 is the album “ Apostrophe”. You have hear it to appreciate it.

My theme: Transformation
This is a year of change (as all years are). It’s a year for renewal and new adventures. It’s time to work on myself. A time to check what is truly valuable in my life. I live a nomadic lifestyle and that has changed me. I think it’s time to jump into that process and be more active in the transformation. Or not. 😎 Westward?

Laugh! Live! Love!

And let us not forget the big eyed aliens from Uranus.

Or is that Big Eyed Aliens from Venus Beans! It is beans.

What’s Happening in June

2 Comments

What’s going on at World HQ this month?
1. Lots of service work:
* Air conditioner service
* Refrigerator service
* Engine oil and filter change
* Onan propane generator oil and filter change
* Chassis lube
* Gas filter replaced
* Check brakes, shocks, steering stabilizer, and air dryer
* New radio
* Check house batteries
* Fix steps
* Maybe a new TV 📺
The one in the bedroom has been broken for a while now.

2. Gunter Hill Campground
This is one of my favorite campgrounds. It’s in the River Region of Alabama just outside Montgomery. Most the lots are wooded. As an added bonus, since it’s a COE campground I can stay for half price.

3. Back in Alabama – sigh

4. Visiting with some good friends and family

5. A beginner kayak?
I have been shopping for a kayak. I’ve looked at inflatables, kayaks that come in sections, regular kayaks, one person, two person, sit on, sit in, life vests, paddles, and a multitude of ways to carry a kayak with a soft top Jeep or motorhome.
I was hobbling around Gunter Hill and there was the 8′ DayLife sit on kayak. The reviews indicate it is a good beginner’s kayak.  Any suggestions?

The plan for today is to take some sunrise photos from the Gulf State Park Pier. Then it’s back to the Hampton Inn for some free breakfast. After eating I’ll load the Jeep and get on highway 90 for the return trip to World Headquarters in New Orleans. There may be stops along the way.

One never knows what will happen. After all, it is real life….Sort of. 🙀😳😎😜❤

On September 27th I’m moving to Childersburg AL.
I’ll stay there until the end of November.

You know how plans are.  We will have to wait and see what actually happens.

Work Days

12 Comments

Tuesday and Wednesday have been work days.  I’ve been blogging, catching up on email, talking with my friends on the phone, taking care of random business, editing photos, and uploading them to cloud storage. Cloud storage is convenient on the road but not especially fast. And it’s definitely not always available.  Internet access is often a challenge. Since I subscribe to Amazon Prime, I’m using their service for cloud space.
I haven’t left the park and haven’t been out of the bus much. It has been a gray, windy, and chilly couple of days for the most part. I keep trying to go for a walk but the wind sends me back inside.
Hanging out in the park turned interesting.  I talked with Steve Posselt and Klaas Nierop of Kayak 4 Earth. Nice guys. They are paddling a kayak across Australia, the U.S., and parts of Europe to focus awareness on climate change. They have completed the Austrilian leg of the trip. Steve invited Christy and I to tag along and take pictures.  I’m not sure I can or will do that.  I have some previous  commitments in the the spring, I need to buy tires, and I have to be in Alabama to renew my tags in March.  It is an interesting opportunity and I may jump in along the way. That’s one of the joys of a rolling home.

Holmes Medical Museum Part 2

Location:
111 W. Laurel Ave.
Foley, Alabama 36535
Open Monday-Friday 10-2
Free self-guided tour

The Holmes Medical Museum is located above the drug store in Baldwin County’s first hospital, which served the community from 1936-1958. Many of the items on display are the original medical artifacts including surgical instruments, operating room machinery and a human skeleton. The interior of the museum is like a time capsule remaining practically unchanged from the time it served as the area’s first hospital. This fascinating museum will definitely take you back in time.

Having it My Way

IMG_0237.JPG
In my quest to live full time in my RV, I went to several businesses this morning. I’m trying to wrap up the loose ends of my life here. Some require a lot of attention like Curley and Moe. Don’t ask. I won’t tell.
Others are just a paperwork shuffle. One I did by email this morning. I took care of 3 others online.
Fueled by a bottomless 50 cent cup of coffee I’ve been using BK as an office while sorting through papers hunting things left to do. I found two more to add to my list.
I’d like to be in NOLA before December 18th.
