Scene 1:
I was riding my bicycle on Venable Road. I stopped to have a drink of water. What to my wondering eyes should appear? A bald eagle swooped down from the tall tree on the edge of the field and soared about 50′ over my as it gained altitude and disappeared over the next tree line.
Scene 2:
I had ridden to Alabama Safari Park and was asked to leave because I was on my bicycle and not in a vehicle.
Scene 3:
I visited The Barefoot Belle one afternoon. Picked up a dozen local yard eggs, a bucket of ripe strawberries that were picked this morning, some cantaloupe, and watermelon. Good folks.

1: an exhibition of optical effects and illusions
2: a : a constantly shifting complex succession of things seen or imagined
b : a scene that constantly changes
3: a bizarre or fantastic combination, collection, or assemblage
Sometimes, watching my Now, life feels like optical effects and illusions, a bizarre and fantastic assemblage. Science tells me it is an illusion. What is perceived is not the energy rushing about nor is it the mostly empty space between particles. The very act of looking solidifies the constantly changing scene much like a photograph.

I got Einstein a cage and set it up. I need to do some remodeling to make a better space for it.
I drove over to Christy‘s house to pick him up. He has been staying there since the first of November. He loves Christy.
He enjoys riding. He chuckled and twiddled and churdled the whole way.
Here he is in his home in RV. He seems happy.

My friend Cherokeewriter has been doing Positivity Week for several years. Each year I try to participate. I hate I missed yesterday but it couldn’t be helped.
Today challenge is to post about my pet(s).
I only have one pet, the red lorried Amazon, Einstein. He is a winner of a bird. He can talk and laugh and cry and wolf whistle. As companions go, he is a keeper.
In a couple of weeks I am moving him into an RV with me. It will be interesting traveling the country with a parrot.

This is Einstein. He has put up with me for several years.
Sorry about the quality of the photos. He isn’t the most cooperative model when it comes to posing and lighting.

If you’ve been following my latest misadventure you know about my roof leaking. I was dubious about finding a roofer.
However, I was lucky today.
The first roofer I called was able to come look at the roof. Even better, his wife is one of my former students and really likes me. She was telling her roofer husband what a great teacher and person I am. I think that translated into a good deal. He put tar on a several places that were obvious leak points and he didn’t charge me anything. Now I don’t know if that is because of his wife or because he says the leaks were caused by hail and he thinks my insurance company will pay the total cost of a new roof minus the deductible.
I went by my insurance agent’s place and filed a claim. The adjuster called and he will be here tomorrow at 2:30 hopefully with the roofer in tow.
Stay tuned for My Leaky Roof v3.

I finally managed to go on a swamp tour. I’ve been trying to for several years. We chose Jean Lafitte Swamp Tours for this excursion. We made a good choice and I’d use their service again.
It was a beautiful location.
We were riding in a boat just like this one.
This is our captain and tour guide. He was local to the area and was knowledgeable, informative, friendly, and humorous. He obviously loved the swamps and the plants and animals that live there.
Chips are good too.
Christy, Jesse, and I took the Amtrak Crescent from the train depot in Anniston AL to New Orleans for a week of adventure and photography. This train station is a classical revival depot and is listed in the National Registry of Historical Places. Jesse loves to ride the train. Heck, we all love to ride the train. We left August 8, 2013 and returned August 14th. Unfortunately Jeremy couldn’t go this time. He had to work.
Christy’s father was kind enough to drive us to the train station and pick us up so we wouldn’t have to leave a vehicle parked there for a week.
We stayed at our usual place, the historic 905 Royal Hotel in the French Quarter. The 905 Royal was built in the late 1890’s.
