DISCARDED BOTTLE CAPS

Rusty bottle top

While I’ve been enjoying my ice-o-lation in Paradise I have been into photographing bottle caps.

Green bottle top
Rusty bottle cap
The last one in this series. I drank this Shiner Bock and posed the cap on an old wooden picnic table.

Except for the Shiner Bock, these caps were all on the ground in Paradise. I saw them and photographed them on my morning walks. The Shiner Bock cap was disposed of appropriately.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment.

My Memorial Day Weekend

May 23
A 4 mile walk
Worked on my art projects
Drummed and practiced ukulele
Meditation for a few hours
Made veggie food
Hung out with my friend
Journaled
Thought different thoughts as much as possible.

May 24 began with a 2 mile hike. At a distance I had a conversation with a fellow hiker. There was a lot of yelling. hahahaha She was walking a beautiful white dog.
After I returned to WHQ, I enjoyed a cup of iced coffee and a mandarin for breakfast, some journaling, and a life threatening trip to the Beeswax convenience store and grill. No masked shoppers other than me. Most people abided by the social distancing guidelines. The floor of the entire store was marked off in 6’ intervals. Sad as it is, I risked my life for a beer run.

May 25
Memorial Day
I started the day with coffee and a banana at 5 am.
Next was a 3 mile hike down by the lake.
The sunrise was lovely this morning.

Lay Lake

I encountered this turtle. I apologized for interrupting it’s journey. I like to believe that crossing paths with a turtle is a positive omen bringing happiness.

Turtle

As I continued I came upon a Killdeer nest. I am amazed at them. It surprises me that the eggs survive.

Lunch was a far cry from the standard Memorial Day BBQ with family and friends. Cabbage soup and a beer for me today. I do miss my mom’s pound cake on occasions like this.
Feeling kind of alone on this holiday. It’s because I pick it.

The dream: I dreamed I was driving and I knew something wasn’t quite right. The passenger pointed it out too. Seems the car had started slowing rising into the air. We drifted near the wall of a Walmart store and used the bricks to pull the car back down. Then we got out. Oddly adults didn’t float but the one child in the car began to drift away.

I started the 100 day project. I’m using mine to document my new Covid-19 life.

Days 1 – 7

New gravel for the drive.

It is a bad weather day on my Covid-19 Day 21 experience. Possible tornados. I was just invited to hide in the RV parks new storm shelter if things get bad. I didn’t know it was ready to use or that they planned to share.

I wrote this back in February and it has languished in the queue long enough.

Scene 1:

Sunrise

I sit here drinking yummy coffee, Dancing Goat blend, watching the sunrise on this cold January morning. It’s 27F outside. This is the last day of a whirlwind weekend in Atlanta GA.

Scene 2:

The Georgia Aquarium

Scene 3:

The Atlanta Zoo

It was cold and windy. Most the animals were not out.

I enjoyed the warmth of the Scaly Slimy Spectacular: The Amphibian and Reptile Experience.

This large llama stood right in front of our Jeep. Other llamas surrounded us. They all wanted food. In order to move on, I had to ease up. Stop. Ease up. Stop. Ease up. Stop. After about 10 minutes of this, the llama allowed us to pass.

Largemouth Bass Loop

Log

What started out as a short walk by the lake turned into a two mile hike over uneven terrain. The Largemouth Bass Loop was well marked at the beginning but became iffy as I continued. Red trail markers painted on a tree. Cedar bench along Largemouth Bass Loop.

Nice benches were placed along the trail.

Abandoned plastic tackle box.

Abandoned plastic tackle box.

There were several old things along the trail. The bottom half of a large turtle shell.

Remains of a large turtle.
Backbone of some creature nailed to a tree

Not sure what left this behind.

Concrete fixtures in the woods.

or these. There were many things like this scattered about.

Along with the old stuff there was new stuff. Bridge over swampy groundNew deck

I love the support posts. Something to keep in mind.

Bridge

There is a lot of work being done on this trail.

What did I learn?

I need a day pack.
I need to carry more water.
I need to take snacks.
I should have been wearing something other than sandals.

What I did right.

I carried a little water.
I took my big camera.
I went for the hike, the adventure.
I nourished my wonder and curiosity.
